Welcome to Southern Cross Outfitters LLC

Southern Cross Outfitters was formed to share with fly fishermen the unspoiled fishing available in Argentina and after being in business for over ten years I am pleased to announce new and exciting programs for the incoming and future seasons:

◦ Land in Buenos Aires and if because of flight connections you have to stay overnight in a hotel of your choice or arranged

through us, for an extra we will tour the city and end the day with dinner at a Tango Club.

◦ Fly to San Carlos de Bariloche until flights to San Martin de los Andes are available, and that afternoon we will take you fishing the Upper Limay River. If your companion does not fish, how about rafting the river? Then, transfer to San Martin de los Andes where we check in at a beautiful local inn where dinner will be served. Based on your itinerary, fish with our associate Gustavo Pucci and staff, the well known local rivers or, if you prefer, fabulous area lakes for rainbows, browns and/or brook trout.

◦ Land in Neuquen city, transfer to an inn by the local impoundment, and then fish the Middle Limay river guided by our partner Guillermo Palacios and staff, owner of Limay Adventures, catching 2 to 6 lb rainbows, 5 to 12 lb browns! (Guillermo landed a +15 lb brown, so far the largest in our team)

◦ Fly to Esquel and experience fishing the Los Alerces National Park waters with our partners from beautiful Laguna Larga Lodge, end the day with gourmet dinner and wine tasting from their abundant collection.

◦ Fly North to Jujuy and fish the crystalline waters of the Rio Ichoa with our partners in the area.

I learned how to fly fish in 1947 in New York where my father was stationed for the Argentine Navy. My first fly rod was a Montague split bamboo that I purchased for $15 at Gimbel’s (at that time fiberglass rods were worth $50 ), and I used it to fish around Brewster, NY. When we returned to Argentina my first trip to Patagonia made me drool. So when I retired from an engineering career I decided to go into the outfitter business to have people from the U.S. enjoy the fishing in Patagonia.
